Texas Department of Insurance requires the services of 2 Software Developer 2, hereafter referred to as Candidate(s), who meets the general qualifications of Software Developer 2, Applications/Software Development and the specifications outlined below for the Texas Department of Insurance.

Two Software Developers, Level 2, are being solicited by TDI to perform work on agency Salesforce applications. Emphasis of work performed shall be modifying and enhancing existing applications adopted from other state agencies and/or creating new applications to meet the needs of TDI. Programming work will include, but is not limited to, creating robust role structure to apply and govern access to data within the application, creating and modifying objects and fields to gather agency data, implementing workflow approvals, automating regular data loads from Oracle database tables and flat files, and creating custom reports and lists to meet business area requirements. Contractors will collaborate with a project manager, business product owners, and technical staff to elicit requirements and user stories. The workers shall be responsible for translating these stories and requirements into tasks for technical staff to program. The worker should have strong knowledge of and experience working on project requirements lifecycle. The contract staff shall work on an agile scrum team, participating in regular meetings, work sessions, and interactions with the business owners and the project team. They should be a self-starter with experience working in a virtual collaborative setting with an agile scrum development team. The worker should possess strong written and oral presentation skills, with abilities to help present work done in an application. Contract staff will also be responsible for writing technical and user documentation.

Qualifications

Note:  Prior experience with a State of Texas agency is desrieable

 

4 Yrs Required:  Developing and administering custom applications on the Salesforce Classic and Lightning platforms using both built in and custom objects and functions, using Visual Studio Code, Apex, SOQL, and SVN (or similar version control tool).

4 Yrs Required:  Working as a software developer on software application development projects, either as enhancements or ground-up initiatives.

4 Yrs Required:  Eliciting requirements from end users and forming epics and user stories, then translating them to functional tasks for code development.

4 Yrs Required:  Following requirements and user stories end-to-end to guarantee proper delivery of requested functionality.

4 Yrs Required:  Testing applications to ensure user requirements are met.

4 Yrs Required:  Eliciting requirements from end users and applying those in application development.

4 Yrs Required:  Utilizing change management best practices to promote code to production environments.

4 Yrs Required:  Developing applications in sprints, observing agile principles and following scrum methodologies.

4 Yrs Required:  Coding following OWASP secure coding practices.

4 Yrs Required:  Writing technical documentation.

2 Yrs Required:  Using Microsoft Teams or other collaboration tools to communicate and work within a team

4 Yrs Preferred:  Writing user documentation.

1 Yrs Preferred:  Working as a software developer with Texas Department of Insurance applications.
